Many of life’s pleasures and dreams cause an almost constant risk of being trivial. Take a sunny day, the opportunity to travel, the window overlooking the sea. The brilliance of such amazing sensations can disappear in the ordinary. But again, it can be just right, as in the case of the Italian Riviera cabins, which Emil Humbert and Christophe Poyet developed for a stunning aesthetic result.

Founded in Monaco, the firm Humbert & Poyet, whose designers met during the first year of school at an architectural school, found a small abandoned house in a prime location between Bordighera and San Remo and updated it with great care and understanding. Really abandoned and no larger than 48 m2, it did not have a bathroom, was left to the mercy of the elements and almost did not have a roof about which one could speak, it all seems a remote memory of what is the final creation of the design duo.

The space opens into the living room and kitchen with Carrara marble and brass accents. Its bright white colors are the theme of the space throughout. Hand painting of white larch, using a restored sea forest, is combined with a white sofa designed by Humbert and Poyet, and walls. An enamelled oven and table bought in England, provide tonal counterpoints, complemented by lighting devices provided by TEKNA and PETLAMP.

To the right of the entrance is a staircase leading to two bedrooms and two bathrooms. The ladder itself is designed for maximum efficiency, each step is also a box. In the same way, the cabinet hides under the bed. Elegant bedrooms are of a luxurious details: antiques, elegant sconces and a delicate sea theme, as well as stunning white and brass themes for bathrooms. Large windows open up the maximum possible view, and open spaces — a skilfully configured terrace of only 3 m2 and a roof — capture nature and let it in. This model of nautical interior design of a Mediterranean cabin manages to accommodate a piano, a relaxation area and a hammock.
