Suspended like light drops, LUMNES latest elegant lamps collection created by product designer Isabel Brouwers. These unusual lamps actually occur on the form of photo-luminescent algae, which designer faced during a swimming trip to Cambodia. Wanting to immortalize this exciting time, the installation allows her to mixed again with the marine plants.
To be more precise, Isabel Brouwers’s LUMNES series reminiscent Pyrocystis fusiformis algae, that naturally produces light. To this reaction requires oxygen. Consequently, lighting devices also respond to the amount of oxygen present around them. Currently used the traditional method of blowing glass, each lamp has its own unique design. In addition, oxygen is used during a crafting process – which is necessary to generate light. Each part of the series LUMNES is completely handmade.
